The AutoAir consortium launched a 5G-enabled mobile network that aims to bring 5G benefits to the transport and technology sectors. On the 12th of February 2019, AutoAir demonstrated the potential of 5G through data transmission to fast-moving vehicles by streaming live 4K videos at network speed of 1Gbps. The testbed in Millbrook Proving Ground enables Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV) developers to have access to a low latency 5G network and wide-area wireless infrastructure that will work seamlessly across the entire Millbrook Proving Ground. This capability is crucial for the validation of autonomous vehicles, which require high speed, real-time connectivity.
